A team from our Firm were honoured to participate as speakers at the "Vietnam in the Global Arena: Navigating International Contracts under Common Law Jurisdiction" event recently held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This event, jointly hosted by LNT & Partners and the American Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (AMCHAM), featured insightful presentations by legal professionals from both Vietnam and Malaysia.

Our Managing Partner, Mr. Steven Thiru, delivered an informative talk on Dispute Resolution in Malaysia, focusing on civil claims and placing particular emphasis on labour law. He provided an overview of the Malaysian legal system and discussed key employment law legislations and principles in Malaysia.

Mr. David Mathew, one of our Partners, presented on data protection and privacy law, with a specific focus on Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2010 and its fundamental principles. He also drew comparisons between Malaysia's PDPA 2010 and Vietnam's recently enacted Personal Data Protection Decree.

Lastly, Ms. Ng Yee Lin, our Senior Associate, shared her insights on Construction Adjudication in Malaysia. She delved into the essential provisions of the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act (CIPAA) 2012 and highlighted relevant cases. Ms. Yee Lin also discussed potential reforms to the CIPAA 2012.
